And so it begins....

Last year was Erick and Derick's first year doing the Pine Wood Derby together.  They had SO much fun and took 1st Place on a 3 Ward Level and 3rd Place at Regionals.  That really added to the fun!  So this year, they were determined to do as well.  I was nervous about this as I didn't know how Derick might handle losing. NOT that I thought they would lose but there is always the chance.  I kept reminding Derick that it is not about winning,  that the experience and the time with Erick was the most important thing of all.  He assured me that he understood and continued on sanding and sanding and sanding his car.  

Derick is a HARD WORKER.  Whatever be the task he will get it done and work hard the entire time at it.  He is just like his Daddy and I love it.  It is endearing to me. So here are the series of pictures from this years Race...you have to look at all of them to see the resluts of the Race!!!  Ahhhhh the suspense...

 Once again...Jim was our NUMBER ONE Pit Crew Boss...

Jim is our old neighbor and DEAR friend.  He is so good to all our kids but he and Derick have a special little bond.  Derick could not wait to finish sanding the car to get over to Jim's house and do the painting.  He has so much fun with him.  Thank you Jim for taking time out of your day (s) to make our little boy feel special and like the most important thing you have going on at the time.  We LOVE you so much and miss living next door to you...more than you know...

 I KNOW I say it all the time, but Erick is THE greatest!!  He is Derick's biggest fan!  He is the Cub Master and so good at it. These boys are lucky to have him!

 Papa Joe came out to watch Derick's Races.  It meant the world to Derick to see his Papa out there...just for him.

So this year, Derick's car got 2nd Place!!  He did great!  We were so proud and Derick handled not getting 1st like a TRUE CHAMP! I was so proud of him.
