Derick wanted to play TACKLE FOOTBALL this year. I was not so sure about it as I didn't want him to get hurt but he was DEAD SET on it!! So we let him go for it! I had NO IDEA how intense this stuff is. We are talking practicing 3 nights a week for minimun 2 hours and Games on Saturdays where they have to arrive 1 hour early for MORE practice with a 2 1/2 hour game to follow!!! In all honesty...Derick LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!
It was SOOOO HOT most of the time. These boy's were troopers, never complained about the heat.
Such a little stud. Derick was the 2nd String Quarterback and the kicker! His Coach continuely told Erick how good Derick was for it being his first time playing. That he has a good mind for the game. He was really good at memorizing the quarterback plays. Erick was really proud of him. We both are!!!
Derick and Coach Tom. When I asked Derick what his favorite thing about the season was he said, "I like it when I make a good play and do what the coaches want and Coach Tom pat's my shoulder's and tells me good job. He say's he loves me too. That's funny!"
We were really happy with our Coaches!
One of the GREATEST parts of this Season was the friendship that was made! Derick met Justin who lives RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER from us! WHO KNEW? They have just become the best of friends as have we with Justin's parents. It has been so fun!!!
Running through the parents tunnel...A highlight for all the boys! I love his face in this last photo. It sums up this Season for Derick. Our team was REALLY good. As the Season went on, Derick played a little less in the last few games. :( This did not make Momma happy but Derick did not complain one bit!!! Well...that is not entirely true...he did get a little sick of practices towards the end but he went!!!My little Mighty Might Cougar...
You were a TROOPER!!!
GOOD JOB!!

You got some great pics molly! Weston was scared to death of football after watching Derek play...he thinks it looks "so hard!" and "the coaches yell a lot!" I am glad we got to see one game. Your little Derick isn't little anymore!
