We got a Family shot right before we headed to the church. I love our little family so much. I hate that our children are growing up so fast. This world is a scary place. I feel that it robs our children of their innocence so young these days. I hate when they go to school, I wish I could just keep them in the safety of our home and in the purity that lies within these walls. I know that I cannot. I know that they each have their agency. When Derick came up out of the waters of Baptism, the prayer in my heart as my eyes welled with tears, was that he was prepared to wear this Armor of God, to face the world and to be strong and steadfast in his journey back home. My sweet, kind, gentle little boy is ready...I know he is.
When we got to the church house, Erick pointed out how beautiful the trees looked. The morning had been nothing short of hectic as both the boys had their last basketball games. I was trying to prepare the house for a small army of guests to attend after the Baptism. Seeing these trees in full bloom quickly brought the Spirit to my heart. I felt at peace and I knew the day was going to be wonderful. And, it was.

There were SO many important people who came to support Derick's Baptism. Some included his teacher Mr. Tillery, Gavin one of his best friends came all the way from Show Low, His cousin Britt came from New Mexico,The Jones famiy, One of my very best friends Karina who was also at Dericks birth cam too! Darcy Ellis even gave the talk on Baptism for Derick. I wish I could have gotten a photo of everyone in attendance. It was an awesome group! Thanks to EVERYONE who took time out of your Saturday to spend with our family on this special day.
We even got a picture with "Big Gammaw" where she is looking at the camera AND smiling!!! If you know Betty....this is no small feat!!! What a lucky boy with so many people that love him.
I am so sad that I did not get a photo of Derick with his Grandpas or my Mom. My Mom gave the talk on the Holy Ghost. She and Erick's Mom worked together on this and Barb made this beautiful "comforter" for Derick to go along with my Mom's talk on the Holy Ghost and how he is a comforter to us. It was a beautiful talk and everyone loved it. Thanks Mom and Mom for all the love you showed our boy on his day. He is so lucky to have you both!
One more thing I don't want to forget was Claira Joe's part in this beautiful day. She for nearly a year has been practicing the song "Baptism" to sing at Derick's Baptism. A couple day's before, she had her first run through with the piano at my friend Natalie Roos' home. She did so good. She later told Erick that she gave Natalie "goose bumps" when she practiced. Well, Claira got right up there after Derick had changed and sang like an ANGEL. She brought the Spirit to the room stronger than it had been felt the entire time. It was precious. She sang two verses by herself accompanied by Natalie and then she lead the congregation through the third verse. She is such a good sister to Derick to prepare for so long and to deliver without a shred of nerves. We adore you Ra!! Thank you Natalie, for playing for us. You are such a sweet friend.
